A total of two T20 bilateral series have been played between Pakistan and Afghanistan so far. One of these series has been won by Pakistan and the other (this series) by Afghanistan. Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in an international match after winning the last T20.

Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the second T20 as well. Along with winning this match, Afghanistan has defeated Pakistan for the first time in an international series combining all three formats. The first T20 was won by Afghanistan by six wickets. Rashid Khan is captaining the Afghanistan team, while Shadab Khan is handling the command of Pakistan.
Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan are not playing in this series for Pakistan. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan's team could score 130 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan achieved the target in 19.5 overs for the loss of three wickets. The third and last T20 between the two will be played on 27 March.

Pakistan innings
Batting first, Pakistan had a poor start. On the second ball of the very first over of the innings, Fazalhaq Farooqui sent Sam Ayub to the pavilion without opening the account. After this, on the next ball, Fazalhaq lbw out to Abdullah Shafiq. He had a chance for a hat-trick, but new batsman Tayyab Tahir did not let it happen. After this, Mohammad Haris shared a 20-run partnership with Taiyab for the third wicket.
Naveen-ul-Haq caught Haris at the hands of wicket-keeper Gurbaz and gave the third blow to Pakistan. Haris could score 15 runs in nine balls with the help of two fours and a six. Karim Janat dismissed Tyeb Tahir (13) and Rashid Khan dismissed Azam Khan (1) to give Pakistan the fifth blow. After this, Imad Wasim and Captain Shadab shared a 67-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Wasim scored a brilliant half-century and made a grand comeback in international cricket. He was dropped from the team by Pakistan last year. Imad remained unbeaten on 64 off 57 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. At the same time, Shadab was run out on the last ball of the innings. He could score 32 runs in 25 balls with the help of three fours. Fazalhaq took the maximum two wickets from Afghanistan. Whereas, Naveen, Rashid and Janat got one wicket each.
Afghanistan innings
Chasing the target of 131 runs, the Afghanistan team got off to a steady start. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Usman Ghani added 30 runs for the first wicket. Ghani was bowled by Zaman Khan after scoring seven runs. After this, Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 56 runs for the second wicket and here Pakistan were pushed on the backfoot.
Gurbaj was run out after scoring 44 runs in 49 balls with the help of two fours and a six. Ibrahim also got caught out after scoring 38 runs in 40 balls with the help of three fours. In the end, Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi played carefully and gave victory to the Afghanistan team with one ball remaining.
Najibullah remained unbeaten on 23 runs in 12 balls with the help of two fours and a six and Nabi scored 14 runs in nine balls with the help of a six. Zaman and Ihsanullah got one wicket each. Afghanistan needed five runs in the last over. Zaman did not give any run on the first ball. Nabi took a single off the second ball and gave strike to Najibullah. A single was scored on the third ball as well. A single was scored on the fourth ball as well. Najibullah gave victory to Afghanistan by hitting a four on the fifth ball.
